Matcha Bowl by Asahiyaki
A traditional Japanese pouring bowl crafted for the full matcha ritual, from whisking to serving. Its wide opening and generous depth allow matcha to be prepared smoothly and evenly, while the sculpted spout offers a clean, controlled pour for a cup or shared serving.
Created in collaboration with Asahiyaki, a historic pottery kiln in Uji, Kyoto with over 400 years of ceramic craftsmanship, this katakuchi reimagines the matcha ritual from a quiet personal moment into an experience meant to be shared.
Handcrafted from locally sourced Uji clay and finished in Asahiyaki’s signature matte black iron glaze, each piece is individually shaped and fired in Genyo, their traditional climbing kiln. Subtle variations in tone, texture, and form are a natural expression of the handmade process, making every bowl uniquely its own.
Balancing function, tradition, and understated elegance, this piece is equally suited for ceremonial matcha, modern matcha lattes, and thoughtful everyday use.
